Life would be so awesome if I just always had enough money to do everything I have ever dreamt of doing. What would I do if I had $100,000,000? I would for sure be living in a mansion, driving the latest BMW, traveling around the world and living life to the fullest. But guess what, as a Christian I could never seek to make that my number one priority. I know what my purpose on earth is and I will aim to fulfill it. I am going to therefore tell you what I would do if I had $100,000,000 and also the best way to approach God when you want to ask him for riches and possessions.During my younger years, all I wanted to do when I became an adult was to be rich only so that I could live the life as I described earlier. Well as I now become an adult, I have started to realize something that I consider to be somehow strange.
I realize that whenever I use the little that I currently have to help someone who is desperately in need, my body suddenly gets filled with great happiness regardless of how unhappy I was. I definitely know now what I want to do with the rest of my life. If I had $100,000,000 I would first give back to God what rightfully belongs to him. Many people receive financial breakthroughs in life but forget to give back to God. They instead get caught up in how they can satisfy their own materialistic needs. I would dare not rob God. I would then travel around the world and feed as much adults and children who are starving. How much more wonderful could life get? I want to be a fulltime distributer of the lord’s resources. That is what I would aim to do. I would love to see people smile after I tell them that it was God who had provided for them and not me. When God blesses us with riches and possessions, he intends for us to use it to make the lives of others better. God has entrusted us with portions of his finances, it does not belong to us. We should therefore seek to put others first if we want God to bless us continually.
Ok I have just told you what I would do with $100,000,000 so let us now look at how we can approach God when we want to ask him for riches and possessions. Before we even consider approaching God, we first need to identify the relationship status between him and us. Many of us are in a complicated relationship as we only remember that God exist whenever we are in need of material things. We do no not maintain a consistent relationship with him. God will neither tolerate nor operate in such conditions. We have to prove our love to God by establishing a consistent relationship with him and seek to follow his ways. By being in a relationship with God, we get a clear understanding of how he thinks and works.
After we have identified that we are actually in a true relationship with God, we then need to get our priorities straight. What is your motive for riches and possessions? Is it just because you want to enjoy life and live like a celebrity? Always remember that you are a worker for Christ and you are working for way greater rewards which are awaiting you in heaven. Whatever riches and possessions God would have given to you would be a gift that should not just for your own benefit but also to enhance the lives of others. Until you have finally understood clearly what your purpose is as a child of God and seek to make it your number one priority, then you are ready to approach God.
God wants every true believer to be prosperous on earth, so asking God for riches and possessions is not wrong, so let us not be fearful to ask him. Christians should not live in poverty and suffering all their lives as this was not what God intended. Psalms 112 says:
Blessed is the man who fears the lord, who delights greatly in his commandments. His descendants will be mighty on the earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteousness. A good man deals graciously and lend; he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desires upon his enemies. He has dispersed abroad, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be exalted with honor (NKJV).
